College Football November 27

What a great week of college football last week. I went 6-4 on my predictions, but I did pick Ok State over Baylor! It was senior day at Kinnick Stadium as the Iowa Hawkeyes took on Michigan. The game got off to a rough start with QB Jake Rudock throwing a pick six on the first play from scrimmage for Iowa, putting them down 7-0. The defense was playing great, but the offense was struggling with turnovers. Rudock did bounce back with a nice touchdown pass to senior TE C.J. Fiedorowicz, but a couple of interceptions gave Michigan a short field and they took a 21-7 lead heading into half time.

Iowa came right out of the gate at the beginning of the second half, with a beautiful touchdown from Rudock to Tevaun Smith. Smith juggled the ball in and then raced 55 yards for the score. The Hawkeyes has some momentum, finally! The Iowa defense held Michigan and Mark Weisman scored on a nine-yard run to tie the game. With about six minutes left, Iowa sent senior kicker Mike Meyer on to take the lead. He had misfired on one earlier and holder, Connor Kornbrath bobbled a snap, so this wasn't exactly an easy kick, especially into the wind. The kick sailed right through the uprights giving the Hawkeyes their first lead of the day 24-21.

Michigan got a nice kick return and solid field position. Michigan QB Devin Gardner was doing a nice job moving the Wolverines down the field, it was looking like their best drive of the game. Gardner was running towards a first down when senior LB Anthony Hitchens came up and stripped the ball right out of his hand. Hitchens pounced on the ball with a little over two minutes remaining. Had Gardner switched the ball into his left hand, he probably would have been fine. The Hawkeyes, needing some first downs to seal the game, had no problem doing so. Weisman picked up a nice 22 yard run on first down. A few plays later Rudock hit Fiedorowicz for a huge first down on a gutsy call. It was a nice win for the seniors, a lot closer than it should have been, Iowa had over 400 yards and Michigan had less than 200.

Games of the Week
I am 99-40 on the year for predictions! Last week was 6-4, not my best week, but who saw Arizona beating Oregon?

Texas Tech @ Texas: Tech is in a downfall after a great start. Texas 34 Tech 31

Iowa @ Nebraska: This is going to be a great match up, I think Iowa is due to beat the Huskers. Iowa 27 Nebraska 21

Alabama @ Auburn: This one could end up being a good one for awhile, but I think 'Bama will pull away. Alabama 42 Auburn 28

Ohio State @ Michigan: This game could get ugly, Michigan's offense is horrible. Ohio State 45 Michigan 17

Notre Dame @ Stanford: Notre Dame is back in the top 25, but it will be short-lived. Stanford 34 Notre Dame 24

Clemson @ South Carolina: What a huge game! If Mizzou loses, the Gamecocks will get a shot at Alabama. Winner of this could be in a BCS game. South Carolina 28 Clemson 24

Texas A&M @ Missouri: Another big game here. A&M 42 Mizzou 34

UCLA @ USC: USC is on a roll right now. USC 38 UCLA 27

Arizona @ Arizona State: Should be a great game. ASU 38 Arizona 27

Minnesota @ Michigan State: Minnesota actually looked decent against Wisconsin, but they won't be able to do much against the Spartan defense. MSU 24 Minnesota 7
