A little over 1/3 of the season is already in the books and things are looking pretty bleak for the Milwaukee Brewers. A day before the MLB draft the Brew Crew is 22-36, currently 16 games behind division leading St. Louis, and even two games behind the lowly Chicago Cubs. Milwaukee is sitting dead last in the division and things aren't looking any better.
Ryan Braun might be getting suspended for a long time, which would pretty much put a dagger in the 2013 season. There have been some bright spots though, 23-year-old SS Jean Segura is hitting .339 with seven doubles, seven triples and eight home runs. He's also a pretty slick fielder. Carlos Gomez is hitting .324 and has 15 doubles and 10 home runs.
Starting pitching has been downright awful for the Brewers this year. Lets breakdown position-by-position.
1B: The Brewers have been toying with a number of players at 1B this year since Mat Gamel and Corey Hart were both injured in the spring. Hart should be returning, but Gamel was lost for the season. They just traded for Juan Francisco from the Braves.
Juan Francisco .000/.286/.000 (he's only played two games)
Blake Lalli .125/.125/.125
Alex Gonzalez .177/.203/.230 He's been awful this season
Yuniesky Betancourt .217/.249/.369 8 HR 29 RBI Put up decent power numbers, but average has been terrible
2B: Milwaukee just called up prospect Scooter Gennett, to share time with Rickie Weeks who has had a rough season.
Scooter Gennett .143/.250/.143 (three games)
Rickie Weeks .196/.295/.315 He's been hitting well as of late, but he's struck out 61 times this year and only has four homers
SS: Jean Segura has been a huge surprise for the Brewers.
Jean Segura .339/.376/.537 33 R 77 H 7 2B 7 3B 8 HR 15 SB should be an all star
3B: Aramis Ramirez has played well, but has been banged up.
Jeff Bianchi .278/.291/.370 Has been pretty good in his few starts
Aramis Ramirez .306/.387/500 10 2B If Braun gets suspended Ramirez better stay healthy
LF: Ryan Braun .292/.368/.510 13 2B 9 HR 35 RBI Has been slumping a bit as of late with a dinged up thumb
CF: Carlos Gomez .324/.366/.576 33 R 68 H 15 2B 10 HR 28 RBI 11 SB Gomez has been a nice surprise offensively this year
RF: Norichika Aoki .296/.364/.389 32 R 67 H Aoki has been a solid lead-off guy all season. He has only struck out 12 times this season.
OF: Logan Schafer has played pretty decent, but needs to get more AB somehow. If Braun gets suspended I'm sure he'll get a lot of playing time.
Logan Schafer .234/290/328
C: Jonathan LuCroy and Martin Maldonado have split catching duties this season.
Martin Maldonado .161/.220/.258 Not much offense, mostly a backup to spell Lucroy
Jonathan Lucroy .259/.311/.420 Lucroy has been coming on offensively lately, he's a solid catcher
SP: The starting pitchers this year have been horrendous. None of the starters have an ERA under 4.00.

RP: John Axford lost his closing job earlier this year after a rough start, but Jim Henderson and K Rod have been holding it down. The bullpen isn't the worst, but they're pitching a lot of innings this year.
